Reedy Lagoon Sunset Eco Kayak Tour – Explore a Rare Flooded Wetland

Paddle into the Heart of a Rare and Beautiful Wetland Event

Join us for a unique kayaking experience through the stunning Reedy Lagoon, currently transformed by a rare environmental watering event. Normally dry or inaccessible, this lagoon is now thriving — offering a rare opportunity to explore one of the healthiest and most ecologically rich wetlands in the Gunbower Forest.

This gentle flood, part of a carefully managed environmental water release, has turned the forest into a haven for native fish, frogs, and waterbirds. Reedy Lagoon, in particular, is a jewel of biodiversity — with thriving aquatic plants, natural habitats, and a truly serene atmosphere, especially at sunset.

A Sunset Paddle Like No Other

Glide silently through flooded red gums and wetland grasses as golden light dances on the water. With a small group of just 8 paddlers, this intimate guided eco tour offers a peaceful and unforgettable way to witness this thriving ecosystem.

Our expert local guide will lead you on a relaxed 90-minute paddle, sharing fascinating insights into the ecology, water management, and the wildlife that call this special place home.

Why Reedy Lagoon?

“This wetland is an important one on the Murray floodplain – it remains largely natural and supports a diverse range of wetland plants – setting it apart from other wetlands along the Murray. The delivery of environmental water provides vital drought refuge for birds, fish, and frogs.”
